CWD Construction is a family-owned construction company that caters to clients in North and South Carolina. The group offers customized, high-end residential homes with an attention to detail unrivaled by any other builders in the area. Owners Chuck and Sonia Dohm work with each and every one of CWD Construction’s clients to ensure that their dream home is crafted to exacting specifications. Chuck is a mechanical engineer who ensures that each CWD Construction home is built to withstand the test of time. Sonia is CWD Construction’s resident designer. Her natural talent for “all things interior” gives CWD Construction a definite edge over the competition.
Unlike cookie-cutter builders, CWD Construction takes the extra time and effort to upgrade each project with special details such as elegant crown molding, oversize baseboards and custom cabinetry. Additionally, Sonia personally walks through each CWD Construction home after the framing process is completed to ensure that all outlets are placed for optimum client convenience. As well, CWD Construction has access to a wide variety of luxury tile, natural stone and granite, allowing clients a virtually endless array of options for kitchens, baths and foyers.
Structurally, every CWD Construction project is subject to detailed scrutiny and is reinforced beyond standard codes. Chuck works alongside the design architect to ensure that the home is not only aesthetically pleasing but lives up to CWD Construction’s high structural standards. To ensure the integrity of a home’s foundation, the firm uses high-grade steel rebar in footings and basement walls. Additionally, because CWD Construction’s Chuck Dohm is a trained engineer who understands the effects that time and gravity can have on a structure, bolts are used on all long structural headers. Standard builders use nails, which can give way and lead to future sagging and cracks.
Unlike many firms, CWD Construction does not piece out every job to the lowest bidder. Instead, Chuck and Sonia have built long-lasting relationships with some of the region’s finest craftsmen who take as much pride in their work as the team at CWD Construction. Most subcontractors are second and third generation tradesmen who have learned that high quality, not low price, makes a home beautiful. Chuck himself works along with his own parents, Bob and Joe Ann, who instilled in their son the value of doing things right the first time.
CWD Construction treats every single project like it is going to be built as their personal home. Their commitment to quality, attention to detail, and desire to craft homes that can be enjoyed for many generations have earned them a reputation for being one of the best in the industry. The bottom line is simple: nobody builds a better home than CWD Construction.
CWD Construction has an A+ rating with the BBB in Charlotte, North Carolina. All prospective clients are encouraged to search the Charlotte BBB for CWD Construction, Inc. for unbiased information about the firm. For more information about CWD Construction, visit them online at www. http://cwdconstruction.com

James P. Stuckey is a real estate developer with three decades of expertise in both public and private land improvement. During his career, James P. Stuckey has served as President of the New York City Public Design Commission, the Managing Director of Gronich & Co., and President of the Atlantic Yards Development Co., among others. In 2009, with an extensive list of notable professional achievements behind him, Stuckey was appointed the divisional Dean and Clinical Professor at NYU’s Schack Institute of Real Estate. James P. Stuckey is currently the CEO and President of Verdant Properties, LLC®.
Although he began his real estate career many years prior, James P. Stuckey considers his appointment as the President of the New York City Public Development Corporation his first major accomplishment. While serving under Mayor Edward I. Koch, James P. Stuckey oversaw or participated in the development of many projects that continue to play a major role in the economic makeup of the city today. Through these real estate transactions - which included the development of the Citibank Center, the Astoria Motion Picture Studio, and the Staten Island Corporate Parks - James P. Stuckey helped secure 100,000 jobs in New York City. Total transactions initiated by Stuckey during this time exceed $15 billion.
James P. Stuckey’s accomplishments soon caught the attention of Gronich & Company. For his position as the Managing Director of this commercial leasing firm, James P. Stuckey is well known in the performing arts community for negotiating with Disney to restore the New Amsterdam Theater. This Broadway venue has showcased some of Disney’s most popular productions, including the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. As well, James P. Stuckey helped to create the World Trade Center’s Russian Trade and Cultural Center – an achievement that earned him the Most Ingenious Deal of the Year Award in 1991.
After leaving Gronich & Co., James P. Stuckey went on to oversee the development of the Harlem Center, 330 Jay Street, and the 460-room Hilton Hotel on Times Square with Forest City Ratner Companies. Following the 9/11 attacks, Stuckey helped New York City begin to heal with the commencement of construction on 15 MetroTech Center South – the first Class A office building completed after the tragedy. This 675,000 square-foot commerce center is now the home of Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield, which was one of the largest tenants of the World Trade Center. Additionally, James P. Stuckey assisted in the relocation of the Bank of New York when they were forced to find a new home after the attacks. While at Forest City Ratner, James P. Stuckey successfully managed several billion dollars of commercial real estate projects from inception to completion.
James P. Stuckey moved on and was named the President of the Atlantic Yards Development Group, where he managed all aspects of the Atlantic Yards project. This $4 billion planned development community includes over 6000 residential housing units and 600,000 s.f. of commercial space. James P. Stuckey worked alongside award winning architect Frank Gehry in the design and implementation of this property, which has created numerous jobs within the city.
During his tenure at the New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate, James P. Stuckey created the institution’s Master of Science Degree in Real Estate Development. He also assisted the school in the creation of their Center for the Sustainable Built Environment. As well, James P. Stuckey pioneered the school’s post-catastrophe learning program that has students currently focusing on reinforcing the infrastructure of Haiti after the 2010 earthquake.
James P. Stuckey has held memberships in the Urban Land Institute, the National Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives, the New York City Transit Museum, the Young Presidents Organization, and has served as a Chairman for the Center Against Domestic Violence. James P. Stuckey is listed in the Jacques Marquis Center of Tibetan Art’s list of Who’s Who in America and previously authored a contemporary issues column for the Staten Island Advance.
Holding two masters degrees from St. John’s University and St. Joseph’s Seminary Institute for Religious Studies, James P. Stuckey often lectures at Harvard, Columbia, and St. John’s University. His personal interests include photography, bicycling, art, and golf. James P. Stuckey is also a gifted musician with proficiency in 10 different instruments. He lives in Naples, Florida with his wife and family.
